Qualdoc in Cocoa Beach, FL seeks a Quality Control Inspector for structural steel. This contract-to-hire, 2nd shift role focuses on in-process and final inspections of fabricated components, ensuring conformance to specs, quality standards, and safety requirements.

The role leads shop operations alongside fitters and welders, reviews drawings, supports training, and coordinates with maintenance to minimize downtime, with emphasis on safety and documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience leading or supervising structural steel fabrication teams.
• Strong knowledge of welding, fit-up, layout, and structural steel fabrication.
• Experience operating or working with CNC fabrication equipment and shop machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
• Understanding of safety procedures, quality standards, and production workflows.
• Experience with Tekla EPM/GO preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, or flexible schedules as production demands require.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support fitters, welders, and fabrication personnel in daily shop operations.
• Assign tasks and balance workloads to meet production schedules and delivery deadlines.
• Provide technical guidance on fit-up, welding, layout, and blueprint interpretation.
• Troubleshoot fabrication and production issues.
• Monitor workflow and communicate production updates or concerns to leadership.
• Enforce safety procedures, quality standards, and shop policies.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Support employee training, onboarding, and performance development.
• Work with Quality Control to ensure fabrication meets required standards.
• Assist with dimensional checks, inspections, and documentation.
• Perform additional shop leadership duties as assigned.
