Job summary

Met-Con, Inc. is seeking an experienced Fabrication Lead for 2nd shift on site in Cocoa, Florida.

This hands-on leadership role supervises fitters and welders, coordinates daily workflow, and partners with Shop Foremen and Quality Control to meet production schedules while upholding safety and quality standards. You will guide the fabrication team, assign daily tasks, mentor staff, and ensure adherence to AISC or internal standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years leading a structural steel fabrication team.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel materials, welding, layout, and CNC equipment.
• Experience with safety, quality, and cost-control standards.
• Familiarity with Tekla EPM/GO preferred.
• Ability to work 2nd shift, overtime, and Saturdays as needed.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Meet production goals and delivery deadlines with the shop team.
• Supervise fitters and welders; enforce safety and quality policies.
• Assign daily work and delegate tasks for efficient workflow.
• Assist with drawing interpretation, fabrication techniques, and safe practices.
• Coordinate with maintenance to keep equipment operating.
• Lead and mentor team members; provide feedback and growth opportunities.
• Support interviews, evaluations, and employee concerns.
