Job summary

OpenSystem in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Lead Developer to drive architecture, design, and delivery of cloud-based applications. You will guide a team of developers, partner with business stakeholders, and own end-to-end technical decisions using Python and AWS services.

The role combines hands-on coding with leadership, focusing on scalable microservices, REST APIs, and secure, cost-effective cloud solutions. Hybrid work is expected in a fast-paced tech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years in software development with 2+ years in a lead role.
• Strong Python and AWS cloud expertise.
• Experience designing microservices and distributed systems.
• Hands-on with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and development of applications using Python and AWS services.
• Establish and enforce coding standards, development best practices, and design patterns.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure high-quality, maintainable code.
• Drive technical decisions and provide strategic direction for engineering initiatives.
• Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions on AWS.
• Work with AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, EKS, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, Aurora.
• CloudFormation / Terraform (IaC) and optimize cloud infrastructure.
• Develop robust backend systems using Python (FastAPI, Flask, Django).
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Lead the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline).
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams.
• Mentor and coach a team of developers in Atlanta and remote locations.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance management.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment.
• Work with product managers, architects, and business teams to define requirements.
• Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Provide status updates, risk assessments, and technical insights to leadership.
