Job summary

The City of Alameda Public Works Department is seeking a skilled Public Works Construction Inspector to oversee field work, review plans and specifications, and ensure compliance with contracts and regulations across multiple projects. The ideal candidate has four years of journey-level inspection experience, a strong ability to read plans, interpret specs, and coordinate with contractors.

A California Driver's License is required within one year of appointment.

Qualifications

• Four years progressively responsible journey level public works construction inspection experience.
• Graduation from high school is required.
• Knowledge of public works construction, inspection, materials and testing.
• Ability to read plans, notes, specs and property descriptions; interpret regulations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates, reviews, and performs field inspection for public works projects.
• Reviews plans and specifications, and enforces contract requirements.
• Observes work progress for safety, standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Authorizes changes with no substantial cost impact and prepares reports.
