Job summary

Dept Behavioral Health/Develop in Northern Virginia is seeking a Lead Psychiatric Care Technician to support treatment teams at the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute. This role supervises Direct Service Associates while delivering direct patient care under RN supervision.

The position emphasizes leading individual and group activities, implementing treatment plans, and modeling professional behavior in a busy psychiatric setting.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Prior health care setting experience delivering patient care.
  • Prior work experience providing customer service.
  • A 2 or 4 year degree in health sciences
  • Valid drivers license

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate individual and group programs through planned, spontaneous, structured and unstructured activities in alignment with treatment plans and nursing care plan.
  • Provide leadership, teaching and role modeling to Direct Service Associate II acting under the title Psychiatric Technician I and performing direct nursing care duties.
  • Operate under supervision of a registered nurse.

Job Duties

The Psychiatric Technician II is responsible to facilitate individual and group programs through planned, spontaneous, structured and unstructured activities that are provided consistent with overall active treatment programming as well as consistent with the individual patient’s comprehensive treatment plan and nursing care plan. In addition, this position provides leadership, teaching and role modeling to other Direct Service Associate II who function under the working title of Psychiatric Technician I and performs direct nursing care duties. The position functions under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older.
