Job summary

The New York State Institute for Basic Research is recruiting a Research Scientist 4 to lead mass spectrometry–based proteomics research in our Staten Island laboratory. You will direct collaborative projects, operate UPLC-MS systems, extract and analyze data, and maintain data infrastructure to support multiple investigators.

Ideal candidates hold a PhD or equivalent experience in biochemistry, chemistry, or molecular biology, with strong computational skills and a track record in proteomics.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Bachelor's degree and five years of professional research experience in a related field; advanced degrees may substitute for experience.
• PhD in biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology or related field preferred; proteomics mass spectrometry experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Operate a UPLC system for proteomic analyses.
• Facilitate data extraction and interpret findings.
• Maintain and expand data structures; manage server access and backups.
• Collaborate with investigators on multidisciplinary projects.
• Communicate progress with team and collaborators.
• Develop new research questions and opportunities.
