Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation is seeking a Project Engineer II to manage propulsion subsystem activities across the product lifecycle, interfacing with internal teams and customers. The role emphasizes technical leadership, system integration, and rigorous test planning.

The ideal candidate has a strong engineering background, 10+ years of experience with leadership exposure, and the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years' experience in engineering roles with at least 2+ years in a leadership role.
• Ability to obtain and maintain United States secret security clearance.
• Experience in aerospace propulsion engineering (design, analysis, integration, and testing of missile propulsion systems)

Responsibilities

• Direct the technical baseline, design trades, and qualification for the missile propulsion subsystem.
• Manage propulsion supplier technical performance, interface control documents (ICDs), and statements of work (SOWs) for propulsion subcontracts.
• Lead cross-IPT coordination with Aerodynamics, Thermal, GNC, and Airframe disciplines on thrust profiles, inlet integration, internal volume packaging, and thermal boundary conditions.
• Plan and oversee propulsion subsystem test campaigns, including sub-scale testing, static motor hot-fire tests, environmental screening, and range flight test integration.
• Lead propulsion technical baseline at formal customer reviews.
