Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to oversee the monthly close for a portfolio of commercial properties. The role includes CAM reconciliations, tenant billings, and supervising one Staff Accountant to ensure accurate financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have strong property accounting experience, analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with property management and operations teams to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 4+ years of property accounting experience within commercial real estate
• Strong knowledge of CAM reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting
• Experience supervising or mentoring staff preferred
• Proficiency with Yardi, MRI, or similar property management/accounting systems

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
• Oversee the preparation and review of annual CAM reconciliations and tenant billings.
• Review account reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Manage and mentor one Staff Accountant, providing guidance on daily accounting activities and professional development.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Support budgeting, audits, and year-end reporting requirements.
• Partner with property management and operations teams to resolve accounting and tenant-related issues.
