Lead Project Manager, Renewables (Solar/BESS, Independent Engineer)

Location: USA only - Remote or Hybrid

Our work focuses on enabling the development of and investment in energy infrastructure. As a Lead Project Manager, your role will include coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, engaging with clients, and expanding our independent engineering and owner’s advisory practice areas. You will join a motivated team of industry experts delivering high-value technical diligence support and solutions for technical and commercial challenges faced by our clients. You will have opportunities to work across energy technologies and engage with industry stakeholders on evolving energy opportunities.

Technical Advisory provides comprehensive energy industry services supporting strategic investments, portfolio management, operational planning, market developments, policy analyses, regulatory support, and customer engagement. We collaborate across divisions within ICF, including Power and Gas Market, Environment and Planning, and Transportation and Sustainability. As a Lead Project Manager, you will leverage your experience from power markets within our Independent Engineering and Owner’s Engineering advisory groups, with a proven track record in technical consulting or utility industry results. Engagement with client decision-makers at manager to senior executive levels is required. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

What You Will Do

• Conduct technical due diligence, support construction and project completion monitoring on energy and infrastructure assets.
• Manage project and client relationships.
• Provide technical input and direction to multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Work within a collaborative team environment with diverse technical skills.
• Complete project work and deliverables within agreed timeframes and budgets.
• Ensure client satisfaction and develop long-term relationships.
• Support business development, including identifying, qualifying, and pursuing new opportunities.
• Develop client proposals for new work.
• Stay informed on market activities and industry trends.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical).
• 8+ years of related energy industry or consulting experience.
• 8+ years of site-based experience in engineering or managerial roles on utility-scale projects (solar, energy storage/BESS, biofuels, renewable tech).
• Experience as a senior project manager, coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with Independent/Owner's Engineering.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for onsite visits.

Preferred Skills/Experience

• 10-15+ years of related energy industry/consulting experience.
• 10-15+ years of site-based experience in engineering or managerial roles on utility-scale projects.
• Understanding of commercial contracts for project development (interconnection, off-take, equipment supply, construction, O&M).
• Flexible work style for team or independent work.

Pay is determined based on experience, skills, certifications, location, and other factors. The range for this position is $107,936 - $183,491.
