Job description

An ideal candidate applies their technical knowledge and structured project leadership techniques to leverage their formal education, technical training, supporting skill sets, and prior work experience to continuously reduce project risks throughout execution. This position is expected to operate independently with some management oversight as a project lead, as an individual contributor, as a technical consultant, as a project champion, and as structured product development mentor for other engineering staff.

This is a high exposure position for a technical leader looking for an opportunity to take things to the next level, advance their career, grow their soft skills, expand their influence in the company, and collaboratively lead high profile programs to success. This is a high value position with significant impact on the bottom line. Continuous improvement to process and effectiveness is the expectation and the norm. This is not a position for passive individuals needing daily task guidance or micro‑management.

Responsibilities
  • Lead medium complexity projects that can include either new technology or applications, but generally within the domain of technical experience.
  • Manage projects with a total engineering cost input of $5M or more annually.
  • Provide technical leadership, cost control, schedule, milestones, customer and PM interfaces.
  • Lead other disciplines, interface with internal leaders and external customers, Chief Engineers and resident experts to accomplish program objectives.
  • Support and drive completion of program milestone deliverables such as System Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Test Readiness Review, Production Readiness Review, and Production Qualification.
  • Incorporate traceable hardware requirements, software requirements, use cases, and acceptance test procedures to direct and coordinate development activities and meet customer contract requirements.
  • Create project documentation such as work estimates, project plans, integrated master schedules, requirements specifications, interface control documents, acceptance test procedures, design assurance test procedures, operational models, and other development deliverables.
  • Support risk reduction planning, maintain decision matrices, journalize development rationale information, and secure project artifacts using designated enterprise database tools and storage systems.
  • Lead and direct meetings onsite, in-person, and remotely with various video conferencing tools.
  • Perform related or other supporting engineering work assignments as business needs require.
  • Travel infrequently to off‑site locations as needed (0‑10%).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
  • Six (6) years of experience working with electronics systems and electronics manufacturing.
  • Six (6) years of experience working with stage‑gate, structured product development environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, proven analytical and root‑cause analysis capabilities, advanced problem‑solving ability.
  • Able to present to customers, senior staff, and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
We Value
  • Master's Degree in Engineering discipline or similar technical degree and 8+ years’ experience in technical or engineering discipline.
  • Experience working within the framework of requirement statements.
  • Mastery of a specific professional discipline or broader expertise in most or all areas within a function.
  • Ability to collaboratively work with and inspire technical teams to design and develop products using industry standard system engineering and project management tools and techniques.
  • Ability to manage riskier programs by developing a deep understanding of risks and opportunities and actively managing both.
  • Demonstrable self‑directed functional task management and strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with operations and quality management within an AS9100 environment.
  • Experience with DOORS NexGen or similar requirements management tool is a significant benefit.
  • Experience with Cameo or similar model‑based system engineering (MBSE) tool is a significant benefit.
  • Experience with MS Project or similar schedule management tool is a significant benefit.
  • Experience with EVMS (Earned Value Management System).
  • Experience with Jira or similar task management tool is a significant benefit.
  • Experience effectively and professionally interfacing with staff, customers, suppliers, and senior staff.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other standard office technology.
  • Ability to proficiently write and verbally communicate clearly and effectively in English.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and constraints, multitasking across different proposals.
