The role emphasizes communication, relationship building and ability to influence without authority across utility project environments.

The ideal candidate brings 15+ years in scheduling, work planning and cost controls, with MS Project or Primavera P6 expertise and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in scheduling, work planning and cost controls.
• Proficient with MS Project or Primavera P6 for scheduling and resource management; advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with cash flow forecasting and purchase order tracking.
• Degree in Project Management, Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent preferred.
• Strong communications skills and ability to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform project scheduling, work planning and cost controls services.
• Develop reports and dashboards communicating near-, mid-, and long-term work plans.
• Create resource management and cost management protocols and analyses.
• Monitor project tasks, inputs and durations during plan development.
• Communicate status with project managers, stakeholders and management.

Position Overview

Power your future with Qualus in our Program Management department as a Lead Project Controls Specialist. This position requires strong scheduling integration and cost controls abilities of project team members and other departments. Electrical utility Transmission, Distribution and/or substation project experience is preferred. Competencies required involve strong communication skills, ability to influence (without authority), and relationship/team building.

Responsibilities

• Perform project support and work planning and scheduling services as well as project cost controls services
• Learns and uses written and/or historical knowledge procedures, processes, and workflows to develop reports that communicate department’s work plan near, mid, and long-term internally and externally.
• Seeks inputs and changes affecting the work plan and ensures these are reviewed, accepted and then updates work plan appropriately.
• Will develop Resource Management and Cost Management protocols, Resource Needs Analysis and Optimization strategies, Work Breakdown, Cost Breakdown, and Organizational Breakdown Structures.
• Monitors and communicates department’s project specific tasks, inputs required, and durations needed of work plan Project Managers during Project Plan development.
• Develop process for collecting data related to department trends and provides input to continuous improvement ideas.
• Create dashboards and program reports.
• Review communication of department’s status and assists with the communication of this status with project managers, stakeholders, and management.
• Provides accurate and timely dissemination of information based on inputs developed and received.
• Provides a high level of customer service and fosters team building. Builds strong relationships with peers, stakeholders and management.
• Works with the project stakeholders to capture and document the business requirements of the department and desired end-state.
• Utilizes staff integration of inputs required, durations of tasks, and resources required for specific tasks to be communicated to project teams.

Qualifications

• Must have 15+ years of experience with scheduling, work planning and cost controls.
• Specific software experience using MS Project or P6 Primavera for scheduling and resource management and proficient in Excel.
• Cash flow forecasting
• PO tracking and oversight
• Degree in Project Management, Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent work experience is preferred.
• Strong communications skills
