Job summary

Qualus seeks a Project Controls Specialist I in our Program Management department to support capital projects across transmission, distribution, and substation work. You will handle scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and analytics to ensure accurate planning and execution.

  • Proficiency with cost planning, control, and reporting; familiarity with financial systems and revenue recognition.

Responsibilities

  • Develop integrated scheduling and reporting including resource and critical/float path management.
  • Perform cost analysis and reporting with charts and diagrams.
  • Forecast project performance and update stakeholders.
  • Document cost and schedule data, including benchmarking.
  • Conduct Earned Value analysis and change management.
  • Assist budgeting and risk management; support contract oversight and scope management.

Job description

Position Overview

Power your future with Qualus in our Program Management department as an Project Controls Specialist. As a Project Control Specialist I you will work on electric transmission line, distribution line, and substation capital projects by providing controls and support services, including scheduling, cost control, and analytics. The Project Controls Specialist I will help manage project costs and schedules, identify project progress, and report to project stakeholders on a consistent basis. The role works closely with Project Management, Engineering, Construction, and Controls teams to ensure accurate planning and efficient execution.

Responsibilities
  • Integrated Scheduling and reporting including resourcing, critical/float path management
  • Cost Analysis and reporting (including charts and diagrams)
  • Forecasting
  • Project performance updating from stakeholders
  • Documentation of cost and schedule data including benchmarking

Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of directly related experience in cost accounting, scheduling, and/or project management on engineering services and/or construction projects
  • Proficiency and knowledge of cost/planning/control and reporting techniques, specifically project accounting practices and use of financial systems (e.g., system input and reporting, invoicing and cash flow, revenue recognition, etc.)
  • Very proficient computer skills using MS Excel, Access, Project, Word and Power Point
  • Working knowledge of Critical Path Method scheduling theories
  • Working knowledge of MS Project and/or Primavera (P6) scheduling software
  • Proven accuracy, reliability, and completeness in job accomplishment
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments
  • Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Acceptance that some travel may be required

Highly Desired Skills:

  • BS in Accounting, Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline
  • Experience in the T&D utility industry
