Job summary

GMC Architecture seeks a Senior Project Architect to lead impactful architectural projects across Columbia, Greenville, and Charleston, SC offices. You’ll drive technical execution, mentor staff, and coordinate with clients and consultants to ensure design excellence from concept through construction.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, manage budgets and schedules, and contribute to a collaborative culture focused on innovation and community impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Registered Architect or completed NCARB Program.
• Proficient in Revit Architecture.
• Strong listening and communication skills.
• Self-starter, team player with strong client/consultant relationships.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to adapt to changing business needs.
• Ability to use good judgment and make timely decisions.
• GMC Architecture is a nationwide practice with travel to project sites may be required.

Responsibilities

• Leads project teams within the GMC Architecture Community framework, respecting structure and standards.
• Collaborates across multi-office practice to share best practices for government/civic, academic and healthcare projects.
• Applies broad architectural knowledge to project work and works in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Manages multiple projects or major components and understands the full project process.
• Designs and details complete projects, systems, or components.
• Prepares project documents including Project Manual/Specifications.
• Understands economic and regulatory and environmental considerations in projects.
• Proficient in Revit Architecture and complementary tools.
• Directs architects, technicians, and staff; plans and coordinates project details.
• Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules; operates independently with guidance as needed.
• Interacts with clients, officials, contractors; participates in project meetings.
• Demonstrates leadership, time management, and delegation for continuous improvement.
