Responsibilities
In a dynamic environment, priorities may shift. This role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Drive program management by coordinating construction activities to ensure successful project completion.
- Oversee application of program-level policies and procedures to align with project objectives.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration.
- Provide leadership in managing contracts, scope, budgets, and staff.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring inquiries and concerns are addressed promptly.
- Lead a team of design and construction management professionals, including site project managers, inspectors, schedulers, estimators, and safety personnel. Coordinate with design teams, program controls, and community outreach teams.
- Identify potential problems or opportunities, analyze risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Manage project budgets, track expenses, and forecast costs to keep projects within financial constraints.
- Demonstrate high standards of accountability and integrity; mentor staff accordingly.
- Keep management informed on project and budget progress through regular meetings.
Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in construction projects of varying complexity, including at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- Proven success in leading large-scale high-rise construction projects.
- Thorough knowledge of construction costs, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, engineering principles, and accounting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Advanced presentation skills; ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with construction management software and project management tools.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work effectively as part of a team.
- Experience with design-build project delivery methods.
- Experience working with New York City public agencies.
- Negotiation and conflict resolution skills; ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Effective leadership to foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and solution-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication skills to set clear expectations with clients and team members.
- Positive attitude with strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
- Fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese is a plus.
