SafelyYou, a mission-driven AI company for safer senior care, is seeking a Lead Product Manager for the AI and Intelligence Platform. You will own the AI capability roadmap, drive production-ready models, and shape how AI delivers value to customers across edge and cloud platforms.
You will lead cross-functional teams, set readiness criteria, monitor model metrics, and align research bets with business priorities in a fast-evolving field.
SafelyYou is a mission-driven technology company dedicated to empowering safer, more person-centered care across senior living. Founded in 2015 from the doctoral research of CEO George Netscher and spun out of UC Berkeley's Artificial Intelligence Research Lab, the company combines world-leading AI, purpose-built hardware, and remote expert clinicians to improve outcomes for residents, provide peace of mind for families, and reduce costs for senior living communities. SafelyYou addresses critical challenges including resident falls, ER visits, staffing concerns, length of stay, and net operating income. The company has been named to Fortune's Impact 20 list, recognised as a McKnight's Tech Partner of the Year, and is one of five most innovative fall technologies referenced in the Senate Falls Report (2019).
SafelyYou's AI and human-in-the-loop solutions, covering fall detection, mobility, severity tagging, presence, and change detection, power every product the company sells. As Lead Product Manager for the AI and Intelligence Platform, you own the AI capability roadmap as a platform: the reusable models and signals that customer-facing teams turn into outcomes, and the path by which research becomes production value. AI research leadership sets research direction and customer-facing PMs own customer outcomes; you own what the AI can do, how well, and at what cost. You would ship existing models into production in short cycles, help place longer research bets, and keep SafelyYou ahead as AI techniques evolve rapidly.
You would own a single capability roadmap across edge and cloud, ranked by cross-team leverage, and define how AI is consumed, including outputs, confidence thresholds, and latency and accuracy expectations. You would establish and enforce model readiness criteria covering the journey from research through shadow deployment to production, and then monitor precision, recall, and drift in live communities. You would manage human review economics by maintaining a feedback loop with clinical reviewers that improves models and reduces review cost per event. You would set early-learning milestones for six-to-twelve month research bets and define data priorities around curation, edge cases, and labeling. You would track emerging AI techniques, including vision-language and multimodal models, agentic systems, and efficient on-device models, and turn the right ones into SafelyYou capabilities such as richer event understanding and reduced human review. You would collaborate with the Hardware and Sensing team on new sensing modalities, owning what models can extract while they own modality selection and cost. You would be accountable for three key metrics: every model release passing an AI-readiness gate covering accuracy, false alarms, review cost, and rollback within the next year; a measurable reduction in cost with no loss in detection; and at least one capability reused by two or more product teams alongside one research bet taken to a clear continue-or-stop decision.
The hard requirement is 7 or more years of product management experience, including at least 3 years leading ML or computer vision products that you have taken to production and operated at scale. You would need fluency in modern AI and ML, including computer vision, multimodal and vision-language models, and evaluation methods, with credibility among researchers and ML engineers. Engineers who have moved into product management are welcome. You would need to be well versed in how newer AI techniques have emerged, from foundation and vision-language models to agentic systems and efficient on-device models, and have a clear point of view on where they apply in care settings and where they do not. Experience deploying models under real-world constraints such as on-device compute, latency, and accuracy trade-offs is required. You would need to be evidence-driven, designing evaluations, running shadow deployments, and balancing open-ended research with commercial commitments. Experience with human-in-the-loop systems, non-optical sensing, or safety-critical AI in healthcare is strongly preferred.
This role is fully remote. Candidates must be located in the United States or Canada.
The salary range is $220,000 to $240,000 USD or CAD 200,000 to CAD 220,000, commensurate with experience.
