Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
SafelyYou is seeking a senior hardware product manager to drive the next generation of sensing and response devices for senior living. You will own the hardware roadmap, build cross-functional buy-in, and shape life-safety compliant products from concept through launch.
You will collaborate with Engineering, Architecture, and vendor teams to ensure robust, scalable hardware and edge AI solutions that meet market needs and regulatory requirements.
SafelyYou’s passionate mission is to empower safer, more person-centered care across senior living through world-leading AI, industry-changing hardware, and remote expert clinicians, significantly improving outcomes for residents while increasing peace of mind for families and reducing costs for communities.
Originating in 2015 as the doctoral research of CEO George Netscher—and inspired by his own family's experience with Alzheimer's disease—SafelyYou was spun out of UC Berkeley’s Artificial Intelligence Research Lab, one of the top five AI research groups in the world. And today, our company is solving critical challenges in senior living, from resident falls and ER visits to staffing concerns, length of stay, and NOI. All helping ensure that communities can focus on improved care for residents while still reaching their financial goals.
SafelyYou is one of five most innovative fall technologies referenced in the Senate Falls Report (2019), a winner of the McKnight’s Tech Partner of the Year, and has been named to Fortune’s Impact 20 list, which recognizes companies making people’s lives better through innovation.
Our sensing hardware is how SafelyYou sees what happens in the building. You'll lead product strategy for our next generation of sensing and response hardware, starting with eCall v2, a lower-cost in-room response system built to life-safety standards, and Guardian Pro Next Gen, our next edge sensing device, designed to lower adoption barriers in assisted living. This is a 0→1 hardware role: your decisions shape where and how SafelyYou can be deployed, not just device specs. You define strategy with Engineering and Architecture, not ahead of them. Day-to-day supply chain and vendor operations sit with partner teams, and Device & Fleet owns the installed base.
Stage-Gate Readiness: Programs meeting required customer, technical, regulatory, operational, supply-chain and commercial criteria before advancing
Customer Requirements Validation: Critical product requirements validated with target customers before major investment
Target BOM Attainment: Actual/forecast BOM vs. approved target at each development gate
The hardware roadmap: multi-generation, grounded in customer evidence and portfolio priorities.
Business cases before NPI: target BOM, capital cost, margin, payback, and IRR, plus build, buy, or partner calls.
Requirements: cross-team needs translated into hardware and edge-compute specs, including privacy, appearance, and acceptance barriers in assisted living.
Sensing modality selection with AI & Intelligence, and convergence on common platforms to avoid SKU sprawl.
Stage gates from concept through EVT, DVT, PVT, and launch, with life-safety certification (e.g., UL 2560) planned in from day one.
Launch and lifecycle: whole-product readiness with Operations and Support, and end-of-life transitions with Device & Fleet.
$220,000 - $240,000 USD / $200,000 - $220,000 CAD commensurate with experience
