Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or related field.
• 10–15 years in product design or project management in plastics manufacturing.
• Experience with high-volume, low-margin manufacturing.
• 3D/2D CAD proficiency; Solid Edge preferred.
• Lean/Six Sigma and continuous improvement experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Travel: 15–20%.

Responsibilities

• Designs and develops concepts for new plastic packaging to meet customer, sales, and operational objectives.
• Ensures that product designs are manufacturable, ergonomic, and fit for intended use.
• Defines, plans, and monitors costs and technical performance for major product developments and/or core engineering projects; uses project management tools.
• Provides team direction on technical priorities or design alternatives and serves as technical liaison for product performance.
• Maintains collaborative relationships with internal and external customers and sales teams.
• Plans, coordinates, and manages testing of products throughout the design process to troubleshoot potential issues.
• Implements and maintains engineering standards, documentation, and reporting systems; protects intellectual property.
• Develops operating budgets for new product development; plans for future needs and monitors conformance to contractual, regulatory, and cost elements.
• Identifies opportunities for cost reductions and productivity improvements.
• Works with business development to discuss capabilities and clarify customer requirements.
• Identifies and creates technical training and development plans; mentors team and maintains leadership capability.
