Job summary

Cox Automotive's Design Foundations team seeks a Lead Product Designer to own Interstate, the B2B design system and shared foundations for Cox Automotive products. You will be the senior voice guiding system direction, reporting to the Design Director and mentoring others.

You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to ship scalable solutions, define patterns, and advance AI-enabled tooling while maintaining consistency and quality across teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field with relevant work experience.
Minimum 6 years in design or related field with design systems exposure.
Experience designing at scale with AI tools and cross-functional teams.
Strong understanding of accessibility and WCAG principles.

Responsibilities

Own and evolve Interstate design system guidelines, tokens, components, and patterns.
Set design direction for ambiguous features and tie to product value.
Define quality bar for design execution, accessibility, and usability.
Create cross‑product interaction patterns that maintain system coherence.
Shape rules for contribution, versioning, and deprecation of patterns.
Guide AI tooling integration to ensure UIs are machine-readable and composable.
Drive initiative to improve system where it falls short and communicate changes.
