Job summary

Cox Automotive is seeking a Lead Product Designer to own Interstate, the B2B design system and its shared foundation. You will be the senior design voice, guiding components, tokens, and patterns across teams and products.

You will partner with PMs, engineers, and other designers to scale quality, accessibility, and consistency, shaping design systems+AI workflows for the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience; or a master's degree with 4 years' experience; or a Ph.D. with 1 year; or 10 years in a related field.
• You understand the layer beneath the screens: token architecture, components and their states, and governance models.
• You obsess over craft, visuals, interactions, and elevation of design quality across products.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve Interstate: guidelines, tokens, components, and patterns.
• Set design direction for new, ambiguous features tied to product value.
• Set the quality bar for design execution, accessibility, and usability.
• Create interaction and visual patterns across product areas and user types.
• Define rules of the road for contribution, versioning, and deprecation.
• Shape Interstate's AI tooling to make components machine-readable.
• Identify gaps, drive fixes, and communicate changes across the org.
• Grow design judgment of other designers through critique and standards.
