Job summary

Cox Automotive is seeking a Lead Product Designer to own Interstate, our B2B design system, and to serve as the senior design voice across Cox Automotive’s products. You will report to the Design Director and guide other designers toward a cohesive system.

You’ll work with product managers, designers, and engineers to craft components, tokens, and infrastructure that accelerate work, including AI-assisted tooling and scalable patterns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field.
• A systems thinker who can explain patterns and governance across products.
• Obsessed with craft and quality in visuals and interactions.
• High agency and influence; proactive in shaping direction.
• Biased toward shipping with emphasis on value and speed.
• Clear communicator who can teach reasoning behind design choices.
• Fluent with AI-assisted design and agent-based workflows.
• Accessible by default with strong WCAG knowledge.
• Outcome driven; connect design decisions to measurable results.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve Interstate: guidelines, tokens, components, and patterns.
• Set design direction for new features and tie to customer value.
• Set quality bar for design execution, accessibility, and usability.
• Create interaction patterns that scale across product areas.
• Define rules for contribution, versioning, and deprecation.
• Shape design side of Interstate's AI tooling and UIs.
• Spot opportunities, communicate changes, and measure impact.
• Grow the design judgment of other designers through critique.
