Job summary

Collective in San Francisco is hiring a full-stack IC Lead Product Designer to own Accounting & Payroll, the most complex and high-stakes part of how our members run their businesses. You’ll partner with a Product Lead and Engineering to turn messy financial workflows into experiences that feel clear, trustworthy and fast.

You’ll own the work end to end, help shape how we design and grow the team, and ship daily for solopreneurs who gain time back because of it, while elevating our design

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Product Designer.
• Demonstrated impact on product strategy and customer experience.
• Outstanding UX capabilities and strong visual design competency, including copy writing and systems-design.
• Experience with visual polish and intuitive design patterns.

Responsibilities

• Deeply understand customers’ needs and business objectives to create paradigm-changing experiences.
• Establish a high bar for visual polish and intuitive interaction patterns.
• Clearly define problems and explore broad-to-narrow solutions with thoughtful designs.
• Ideate, design, launch and improve products to advance Collective’s mission.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team to ship innovative experiences at scale.
• Balance execution velocity with high quality, making tradeoffs as needed.

About the role:

We’re hiring a full-stack IC Lead Product Designer to own Accounting & Payroll, the most complex and highest-stakes part of how our members run their businesses. You’ll partner directly with a Product Lead and Engineering team to turn messy financial workflows into experiences that feel clear, trustworthy and fast.

You’ll own the work end to end, help shape how we design and grow the team, and ship every day to solopreneurs who get their time back because of it.

What you’ll do:

• Deeply understand our customers’ needs, business objectives, and state of the industry to imagine & bring to life paradigm-changing experiences.

• Establish a high bar for visual polish and intuitive interaction patterns.

• Clearly define customer and business problems. Explore broad-to-narrow solutions with thoughtful designs.

• Ideate, design, launch and improve products to help advance Collective’s mission.

• Work with a cross functional product development team (product managers, engineers, designers, operations, sales & marketing) to ship innovative and well-crafted experiences, for scale

• Optimize for execution velocity while maintaining a high quality bar, making tradeoffs between design choices and resources available.

• Contribute to growing a robust & refined design system

What you’ll bring:

• 5+ years of experience as a Product Designer

• Demonstrated impact on product strategy and customer experience in previous roles, preferably within Fintech or Consumer Tech.

• Outstanding UX capabilities and strong visual design competency, including visual, UI/UX, copy writing and systems-design.

• Experience with and a high bar for visual polish and intuitive, simple design patterns.

• Passion for turning complex problems into simple & engaging solutions.

• Innate understanding of the end-to-end design process - from identifying customer needs and pain points to delivering exceptional customer experiences.

• The ability to apply consumer insights and metrics to inform design decisions and influence the product roadmap

• Strong systems thinker with the ability to connect the dots across the entire customer journey.
