Job summary

Mitsubishi Chemical America's Specialty Resins Division in Pasadena, TX seeks a Process Safety Engineer to strengthen process safety systems and reduce risk across a complex chemical manufacturing environment. You will work with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance and site leadership as a key PSM expert, ensuring OSHA PSM and EPA RMP compliance while driving practical improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5 years in an industrial chemical plant environment.
• Experience in Process Safety Management, Process/Production Engineering, or Asset Integrity Engineering.
• Knowledge of plant equipment, P&IDs, unit operations, corrosion, NDE/NDT, and overhaul planning.
• Strong knowledge of ASME, API, and NFPA codes and standards.
• PHA/LOPA leadership experience preferred; strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead PHAs, LOFAs/LOPAs, risk assessments, and Management of Change activities.
• Serve as SME for Process Safety Management systems across plant operations.
• Partner with site leadership, Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance to identify hazards and reduce risk.
• Lead PSM self-assessments and support audits (internal/ external).
• Develop and maintain PSM policies, standards, procedures, metrics, and KPIs.
• Support Asset Integrity and Reliability, including criticality assessments and inspection strategies.
• Review process safety events, near misses, releases, deviations, and corrective actions.
• Maintain site process safety documentation including PHAs, LOPA, and Major Accident Hazard information.
• Review and apply RAGAGEP standards (ASME, API, NFPA).
• Provide process safety training and build safety competency across the organization.
• Coordinate with Emergency Response Team for tabletop drills and scenarios.
• Track regulatory changes and share lessons learned to improve programs.
