Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Lead Process Safety Engineer to establish risk controls across advanced chemical systems at the Bastrop, TX site. You will partner with EH&S and operations to implement PSM pillars and ensure safety throughout design, commissioning, and startup activities.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in chemical engineering or process safety, 5+ years of relevant experience, and a Master’s degree is a plus. Relocation to Bastrop, TX is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in process safety or chemical engineering.
• 5+ years of design and commissioning chemical systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct PHAs of advanced chemical systems and recommend controls to manage risks.
• Evaluate equipment overpressure/overtemperature scenarios and reaction hazards.
• Perform/oversee FAT, SAT, and risk assessments on complex process equipment.
• Implement and field validate safety-critical instruments and interlocks during PSSRs.
• Implement a Process Safety Management program and ensure compliance with all pillars of PSM.
