Job summary

SpaceX in Bastrop, TX is seeking a Lead Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to head the Safety Engineering team and drive the EHS program. This role requires coordinating across disciplines to implement IH, ergonomics, and process safety controls and to ensure regulatory compliance at the site.

The position demands leadership of multi‑site programs, hands-on risk assessments, and collaboration with operations and project leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in EHS programs with emphasis on safety engineering disciplines.
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing technical/engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, RIA regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the EHS Safety Engineering team, including performance management and hiring.
• Oversee budgets for Safety Engineering programs across IH, Ergonomics, Equipment Safety, and Process Safety.
• Develop engineering-based safety solutions to reduce incidents and drive cross-functional engagement.
• Review safety rules, regulations, and standards and provide guidance to management and engineering teams.
• Provide training and coaching on IH assessments, ergonomics evaluations, PHA/JHA, and other risk controls.
