Job summary

Montauk Renewables in Turkey, NC seeks a Process Engineer to support existing operations and new development projects across the full lifecycle, from scoping to startup and field verification. You will help maximize RNG or electricity production in line with site goals.

The role requires a bachelor’s in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering (PE preferred), 8–15 years of engineering and leadership experience, and strong skills in P&IDs, process simulations, AutoCAD, Excel, and Visio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Graduate Degree a plus.
• Professional Engineering license preferred.
• 8–15 years engineering and leadership experience in a related environment.
• Previous new facility design experience preferred.
• Knowledge of production or process engineering.
• Experience with gas dehydration, decontamination, and separation processing and distribution, batch and continuous processing operations, and/or corrosive/toxic chemicals a plus.
• Previous operations and maintenance experience a plus.
• Familiar with AutoCad, Microsoft Excel, Visio, and MS Office programs.
• Able to read technical drawings and create piping/equipment sketches and process flow diagrams.
• Ability to travel (US based) – 25–50% on average (75% possible).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of an organization and lead teams.
• Familiar with process instrumentation and control loops.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams and mentor junior engineers.
• Develop heat and material balance and PFDs.
• Specify equipment and develop P&ID.
• Develop manufacturing costs.
• Scale-up field and lab data to design.
• Lead process improvement at existing facilities.
• Assist with SOPs, training materials, and plant startup checks.
