Job summary

GE HealthCare in State College, PA seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to monitor and enhance process capabilities and to advance the integration of new manufacturing technologies. You will leverage data acquisition and processing systems to focus improvement efforts on efficiency and cost reduction, while collaborating with design, quality assurance, planning, purchasing and suppliers.

Documentation of changes and procedures is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field (Mechanical preferred).
  • 3+ years in manufacturing; 5+ preferred.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks or similar.
  • Strong data analysis and statistics skills.
  • Experience with process automation and robotics is a plus.
  • Ability to document processes and train operators.

Job Summary

Responsibilities
  • Understand, monitor and improve manufacturing process capabilities.
  • Leverage data acquisition, management, and processing systems to focus improvement efforts to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Help advance the company’s effort to incorporate contemporary manufacturing technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through the use of automation where appropriate.
  • Formally document new part designs, fixture designs and manufacturing procedures according to internal and external requirements.
  • Respond when needed to manufacturing emergencies to quickly identify and remediate issues.
  • Work with design teams, quality assurance, planning, manufacturing, purchasing, and suppliers to understand causes and implement solutions.
  • Provide formal and timely communication to the management team on project status.
  • Create, edit and approve engineering changes, work instructions, deviations, and other documentation as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or related discipline (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  • 3+ years, preferably 5 years, of practical experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Competent using SolidWorks or equivalent design software.
  • Statistically sound data analysis abilities to describe, diagnose, predict outcomes and prescribe solutions.
  • Demonstrable success developing task‑specific applications, including the ability to document user‑level instruction and train operators to achieve proficiency.
  • Demonstrable use of a structured approach when analyzing and evaluating alternatives to manufacturing issues.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to generate clear, concise written communication, lead discussions, and provide formal presentations to management.
  • Ability to work independently and self‑motivated.
  • Experience with and knowledge of process automation, including robotics and coordinate systems.
  • Proven track record working with cross‑functional development teams.
