Job summary

UC San Diego Health, part of University of California - San Diego Medical Centers, seeks a senior R&D Engineer 4 to lead cell-therapy production improvements and drive complex engineering solutions. You will guide projects, ensure ACTL policy implementation, and advance regenerative medicine.

The role requires autonomous leadership, collaboration across units, and a strong focus on GLP/GMP standards, biosafety, and strategic development of production processes.

Qualifications

• Eleven (11) years of related experience, education/training, OR an Advanced degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training
• Advanced knowledge of specialized design work and overall field with proficiency in multiple technologies such as cell processors and analytical methods
• Experience in planning, development, and fabrication of engineering systems; cell therapy product engineering and production process development
• Strong creativity and problem solving abilities to apply principles and procedures to difficult assignments
• Strong project management skills to accomplish research objectives
• Advanced communication skills to convey complex information clearly
• Ability to work collaboratively; assess challenges and provide resolutions
• Strong understanding of GLP and GMP; familiarity with FDA guidelines
• Must have experience supporting process development as an experienced R&D Engineer
