Job summary

UC San Diego Health’s Sanford Stem Cell Institute seeks a seasoned R&D Engineer 4 to lead advanced cell-based therapy production improvements and scale-up. You will guide teams, apply GLP/GMP standards, and drive projects aligned with ACTL goals while delivering fit-for-purpose solutions.

You will oversee design and implementation, contribute to strategy, and work collaboratively with multiple Institute groups to advance regenerative medicine initiatives.

Qualifications

• 11+ years of related experience, or an advanced degree plus 5 years.
• Proficiency with cell processing and analytical technologies (ELISA, qPCR, ddPCR, flow cytometry).
• Experience in cell-therapy product engineering and production process development.
• Strong project management and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and adhere to GLP/GMP and FDA guidelines.
• Experience supporting process development.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex cell-based therapy process improvements and scale-up.

• Provide autonomous technical leadership for strategic objectives.
