Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Principal Software Developer to lead and shape the Elasticsearch - Search Infra team. You will define the technical direction for core search, indexing, and relevance on a globally distributed platform.

You will mentor engineers,own end-to-end technical delivery, and drive a roadmap across teams while collaborating with product partners to deliver scalable, high-performance search capabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience leading technical projects in search infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Mentoring expert engineers with technical and professional guidance.
• Defining a long-term technical vision for a core search or retrieval system.

Responsibilities

• Define, lead, and contribute to the evolution of core search and indexing capabilities.
• Research advances in search infrastructure, data structures, and retrieval algorithms.
• Collaborate with partners and product teams to shape the long-term technical vision for search at Elastic.
• Drive roadmap for Elasticsearch’s indexing, query execution, and relevance layers.
