Job summary

Integer Technologies is seeking a Principal Engineer for Autonomous Systems to act as a portfolio-wide technical expert across multiple applied research programs focused on unmanned maritime platforms. You will mentor engineers, contribute to proposals, and drive high-impact research while collaborating with sponsors and partners.

Ideal candidates blend depth in specific areas like perception, edge ML, or software architecture with broad capability across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 10+ years of relevant technical experience; or Master’s with 8+ years; or Ph.D. with 6+ years.
• Deep experience in one area and working proficiency in at least two areas: modeling/simulation, perception or sonar processing, data fusion, edge ML, software for autonomous/embedded systems.
• Proficiency with modern software engineering practices: version control, code reviews, CI/CD, testing, and documentation.
• Fluency in Python, C++, or Rust.
• Strong written and oral communication; ability to explain complex technical work to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a portfolio-wide technical SME in autonomous maritime systems across multiple domains.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to proposals and business development.
• Publish and present technical work to sponsors, partners, and conferences.
• Drive high-risk, high-payoff research with demonstrable capability advances.
• Collaborate across programs to adapt to portfolio needs and deliver concrete results.
• Support customer engagement meetings with technical credibility when needed.
