Our client, a national law firm in Philadelphia, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Pricing Analyst to join their team. The Lead Pricing Analyst will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and managing the firm's pricing strategies to enhance profitability and client value. This position requires a strong analytical background, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of financial principles within a professional services environment, preferably within a law firm.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sophisticated pricing strategies, models, and tools that align with the firm's financial objectives and market conditions.
- Lead the analysis of historical billing data, profitability trends, and market benchmarks to inform strategic pricing decisions.
- Build and maintain complex financial models to evaluate various fee arrangements, including alternative fee arrangements (AFAs), fixed fees, and value-based billing.
- Collaborate with partners, business development, and finance teams to develop pricing proposals for new and existing clients, including responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Provide insightful analysis and recommendations on client and matter profitability, cost structures, and pricing performance.
- Monitor and assess the impact of implemented pricing strategies, identifying areas for optimization and adjustment.
- Lead the annual rate-setting process, including analyzing market trends, competitive intelligence, and internal data to recommend rate adjustments.
- Develop and maintain pricing guidelines, policies, and best practices across the firm.
- Prepare and present clear and concise reports and presentations on pricing analysis, trends, and recommendations to firm leadership.
- Work closely with the Legal Project Management team to integrate pricing considerations into project planning and budgeting.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of technology solutions and tools to support pricing analysis and management.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior pricing analysts.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in legal pricing and financial management.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and analyses as required by firm leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., Certified Pricing Professional) is a plus.
- Experience in financial analysis and pricing, preferably within a law firm or other professional services environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing complex financial models and pricing strategies.
- Strong understanding of various fee arrangements and their financial implications.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling.
- Experience with financial systems and analytics tools (e.g., Elite 3E, Aderant, Power BI, SQL) is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with attorneys and senior leadership.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong ethical standards and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
