Job summary

Union County Community Action, Inc. is seeking a Lead Teacher for 3- and 4-year-old classrooms in Monroe, NC. You’ll plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities, foster curiosity, and partner with families to create a safe, engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field from an accredited two-year college.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
• CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain.
• Child Care Credentials I & II (EDU 119) required, or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities.
• Create engaging learning environments and functional learning centers.
• Monitor and assess children’s developmental progress.
• Maintain accurate classroom and child assessment records.
• Partner with families through conferences, communication, and home visits.
• Supervise children in classroom, outdoor, and meal settings.
• Collaborate with Assistant Teachers, specialists, and support staff.
• Support children’s social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
• Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and CACFP requirements.
