Job summary

The Town of Brookline is seeking a Lead Preschool Teacher for the Soule Center in Brookline to provide a developmentally appropriate environment for children aged 2.9 to 5 years. The role emphasizes parent collaboration, curriculum leadership, and ongoing professional development.

Requirements include an EEC lead teacher qualification, two years of early childhood teaching experience, an Associate's degree in a related field, and CPR/First Aid certification.

  • CPR and First Aid is required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and maintain developmentally appropriate classroom environments, materials, and equipment.
  • Lead the development and daily implementation of curriculum and activities; ensure the safety and well-being of children.
  • Support children's classroom adjustment and encourage positive peer relationships.
  • Promote positive discipline practices aligned with EEC standards and center policies.
  • Supervise toileting, toilet training, and diapering routines.
  • Conduct ongoing developmental observations and collaborate with specialists or outside providers as needed.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, developmental documentation, and child portfolios.
  • Complete formal child assessments twice yearly and schedule/lead parent conferences twice yearly.
  • Foster open, welcoming communication with families; attend parent meetings as required.
  • Attend staff meetings and lead weekly team meetings; maintain team planning notes.
  • Provide leadership and support to teachers and assistant teachers; model professional, collaborative conduct.
  • Assist the Director in coordinating professional development and participating in teacher performance assessments.
  • Provide orientation to new staff; supervise volunteers and substitute teachers.
  • Support center mission and adhere to EEC regulations and internal policies.
  • Participate in continuing education, trainings, and professional development.

The Town of Brookline is seeking full-time Lead Preschool Teachers in the early education program located at the Soule Center in Brookline, an attractive space with large indoor/outdoor play areas. The Lead Preschool Teacher will develop and maintain parent relationships, collaborates with colleagues, and takes part in continuous professional development, which ensures a quality learning environment and meets the developmental needs of children aged 2.9 to 5 years. Provides a nurturing, consistent, developmentally appropriate environment that meets the cognitive, emotional, social and physical needs of the Center's children, and other related tasks as required.

Qualifications:

EEC lead teacher qualified. Two years experience as an early childhood teacher, or an equivalent combination of training and experience that includes an Associate's degree in child development, early childhood education or a related field. CPR and First Aid is required.

The ideal candidate will also have a strong understanding of EEC licensing regulations and early childhood best practices; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; reliable, organized, and professional; able to maintain confidentiality; willing to pursue ongoing learning; and proficient with basic computer applications used for documentation and communication.

$28.57 hourly (40 hours) plus generous benefits and excellent working conditions.
