Farm To People is seeking a Lead Prep Cook to oversee a small kitchen team in Brooklyn, starting at 6AM. You will guide prep, train cooks, and ensure recipes are followed with attention to quality and safety.

Strong leadership and organizational skills are required to manage time, communicate clearly, and maintain a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with Cook and Pack teams, ensuring accurate forecasting, inventory, and adherence to DOH standards while fostering a collaborative

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience in a kitchen
• 1+ years in a leadership role
• Fluent in Spanish and English
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand 8+ hours

Responsibilities

• Kick-off prep day at 6AM and assign tasks
• Organize prep labor and coordinate with Cook and Pack teams
• Lead by example and maintain high energy
• Follow recipes and improve processes as needed
• Create daily prep lists based on forecasts and constraints
• Order ingredients for daily production
• Train prep cooks on new recipes and standards
• Ensure DOH and internal food-safety standards compliance
• Maintain clean, organized workstations and storage
• Label and store items using FIFO to minimize waste
• Communicate issues and safety hazards immediately
• Foster collaborative team environment
• Continuously refine techniques and learn new skills
