Job summary

Performance Services in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Estimator to lead estimating from conceptual budgeting through competitive bidding. You will ensure the quality and accuracy of cost estimates, recruit and manage subcontractors, and align design with budget objectives.

The role requires 10+ years in engineering, construction, or preconstruction, with 4+ years in estimating and strong skills in Timberline/Sage, eTakeoff, and Excel.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in engineering, commercial construction, or preconstruction roles.
• Minimum of 4 years in estimating or cost management with client-facing and leadership responsibilities.
• Experience estimating Design-Build and/or Public/Private Partnerships is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction estimating efforts from initial concept through final pricing using various delivery methods.
• Prepare detailed conceptual estimates, budgets, and competitive bid packages.
• Interpret plans and specifications to build accurate cost estimates reflecting design intent and feasibility.
• Adapt estimates to design changes while maintaining timely communication with design and construction teams.
• Manage takeoffs, pricing, value analysis, and proposal components.
• Collaborate with Designers, Operations, and Business Development to align scope, schedule, and cost.
• Develop and maintain cost data with input from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Validate subcontractor bids and ensure alignment with project goals and risk assessments.
• Monitor preconstruction cost performance and adjust to meet profitability targets.
• Assist project management with subcontractor reviews and contract negotiations.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field

Estimating certifications such as DBIA, CPE, CEP, or CVS
