Job summary

The University of Vermont seeks a Team Lead, Unit Pre-Award Administration to advance the Research Administration Office (RAO) and establish a coordinated, efficient pre-award approach across campuses. You will guide a dedicated team, align processes with policy, and support researchers through proposal development and post-award activities.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree and at least six years in government, non-profit, or higher education.
• Experience in complex research administration and grant/contract submission management.
• Budget building and proficiency with spreadsheets.
• Strong customer service experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical abilities and strong presentation skills.
• Experience supervising employees.

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate the development of the Research Administration Office (RAO) to create a unified pre-award framework across departments.
• Supervise unit Pre-Award Administrators and provide onboarding and training.
• Lead process improvement initiatives; streamline procedures and develop tools/documentation for pre-award administration.
• Serve as liaison to internal and external stakeholders on policy and process information.
• Provide executive-level research administration to the Senior Associate Dean for Research and oversee grant portfolios.
• Oversee proposal development and submission and post-award communications with sponsors.
