Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electric bus or electric school bus powertrain integration.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electric powertrain systems for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles or school buses.
  • Familiarity with automotive product development methodologies (V-Model, APQP, IATF 16949).
  • Proficiency with MS Office and engineering documentation practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and well-organized work style with leadership skills.

Responsibilities

Lead Powertrain Engineer (School Bus Experience Required)

Job Description

We are seeking a Lead Powertrain Engineer to support the development and integration of electric school bus powertrain systems. This role is ideal for a technical leader who is passionate about vehicle electrification and can provide expertise across engineering, product development, customer engagement, testing, and program execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technical discussions and engagement with customers.
  • Lead cross-functional development activities for electric school bus powertrain systems, including requirements definition, architecture design, mechanical integration, software implementation, HIL testing, field testing, system validation, and software release management.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams and management to define and develop powertrain architectures and system requirements for electric school buses.
  • Lead and manage development plans, project milestones, budgets, and schedules in alignment with technology roadmaps.
  • Develop technical layouts, concepts, and proposals in response to customer requirements and inquiries.
  • Review, guide, and approve technical documentation.
  • Lead structured root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for system and component performance issues.
  • Support product commissioning activities both internally and at customer locations, either onsite or remotely.
  • Lead prototype builds, validation activities, and performance testing.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electric bus or electric school bus powertrain integration.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electric powertrain systems for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles or school buses.
  • Familiarity with automotive and product development methodologies such as V-Model, APQP, IATF 16949, or similar frameworks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering documentation practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and well-organized work style.
