Job summary

Radiant in El Segundo, CA, is hiring a Principal Power Systems Engineer to lead design, modeling, and validation of electrical power systems for its nuclear microreactor platform. You will define how power is generated, conditioned, controlled, and delivered to customers in grid-connected, islanded, and rapidly deployable environments.

You will own studies from architecture tradeoffs through testing, collaborate with electrical design, controls, turbomachinery, nuclear, and software teams, and

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in power or control systems.
• 5+ years designing power systems for generation, microgrids, or mission-critical power.
• Experience sizing and integrating high-voltage battery systems with power electronics.
• Strong experience with power system modeling and simulation tools.
• Understanding of inverters, grid converters, DC/DC converters, and control modes.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Own power system architectural design for microreactor-based generation.
• Develop single-line diagrams for reactor configurations.
• Create FMEAs to evaluate failures and redundancy paths.
• Evaluate stability and fault response in complex systems.
• Size energy storage for cold start and varying loads.
• Support SIL/HIL testing and system checkouts.
