Hitachi Energy USA Inc. in Raleigh, NC, seeks a Principal Power Systems Architect to lead the electrical design of hyperscale AI data centers, from grid connections to rack‑level power delivery.

You will own end‑to‑end architecture, guide studies across engineering domains, and collaborate with utilities, EPCs, and equipment suppliers. The role requires a strong background in power systems, with 15+ years in large-scale infrastructure and experience with interconnection processes and compliance

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering with focus on power systems, grid dynamics, power electronics or high-voltage systems.
• Experience leading power system studies for large-scale infrastructure and hyperscale projects.
• Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NERC standards for power systems.
• Proven ability to coordinate across power, data center, controls and electronics teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical architecture of hyperscale AI data center campuses from grid connection to rack-level power.
• Direct multidisciplinary power system studies and ensure alignment across engineering domains.
• Develop utility interconnection strategies and support large-load grid integration initiatives.
• Review and approve key technical studies, designs, and engineering deliverables.
• Define system-level specifications for transformers, power electronics, BESS, reactive compensation, and UPS solutions.
• Serve as the primary technical interface for utilities, EPCs, grid operators, and equipment suppliers.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Mentor engineering teams and foster technical excellence across power systems disciplines.
