Job summary

Amperesand is hiring a Staff Integration and Validation Engineer‑Reno to own the validation of power electronics in our solid‑state transformers. Lead design validation, qualification, and continuous regression; build test systems and strategy; ensure high‑voltage reliability across production.

You will mentor teams and travel globally to implement solutions. The role requires a BS/MS in EE/CE, 6+ years in test/validation, and deep HV expertise.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in test, validation, or integration engineering with power electronics.
  • Ownership of a product or subsystem through a full validation cycle, from first bring-up to production.
  • Deep understanding of power electronics: switching converters, magnetics, gate drive, control loops, high‑voltage and high‑current systems.
  • Strong hands-on high‑voltage lab skills and a safety‑first approach.
  • Experience with PCBA schematics and debugging hardware down to component level.
  • Fluency with oscilloscopes, HV probes, current shunts, Rogowski coils, power analyzers, multimeters, dielectric testers, thermocouples, IR imaging.
  • Comfort with validated data, dashboards, and statistical analysis for decision making.
  • Be proactive and accountable in challenging tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead validation strategy and plan for SST subsystem from design validation to production ramp.
  • Design and maintain test systems for high‑voltage/high‑current power electronics.
  • Characterize electrical, thermal, and performance behavior across prototype to production builds.
  • Own regression tests and automate them for continuous run.
  • Trace requirements to tests and identify coverage gaps early.
  • Lead root-causes analysis for failures and field escapes.
  • Define manufacturing test specs for volume production and transfer.
  • Innovate test system design for accuracy, cycle time, and safety.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, magnetics, mechanical, and systems teams.
  • Mentor engineers on HV practice and test methodology.
  • Establish HV safety practices in the lab and training.
  • Travel to facilities worldwide to collaborate and deploy solutions.
