Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA in Carson, CA seeks a Principal Electronics Engineer to lead PCB design and development for power electronics. You’ll own the full design lifecycle—from schematic to production support and field root‑cause investigations.

As the technical authority on PCB design, you’ll mentor engineers and collaborate with systems, mechanical, and software teams to deliver robust, manufacturable power electronics for EV charging and related applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience as Principal Electronics Engineer with ownership of PCB design programs.
• Hands-on PCB layout experience and debugging on real PCBs.
• Experience with Contract Manufacturing engagement and PCB fabrication partners.
• Experience with root cause investigations in production and field environments.
• Strong power electronics design knowledge, including EMI/EMC.

Responsibilities

• Own and act as technical authority for PCB-based power electronics assemblies.
• Lead PCB layout: placement, routing, thermal management for high-current stages.
• Apply layout expertise to motor drive and power conversion applications like EV chargers.
• Analyze design issues during bring-up and drive corrective actions to resolution.
• Collaborate with CM partners and PCB fabrication houses through prototyping and production.
• Lead root cause investigations in production and in-field environments.
• Support design reviews, DFM/DFT, and manufacturability improvements with CM partners.
• Provide mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
• Collaborate with systems/mechanical/software teams to ensure reliability.
• Document design decisions, test results, and root cause findings for reviews.
