Job summary

CSG Talent seeks a Senior/Staff Power Conversion Engineer in California to lead converter development from spec to production. You will select power semiconductors, design gate drives, and optimize switching, losses and thermal performance while driving high-efficiency HV DC/DC and DC/AC stages.

You will develop modulation techniques and control strategies, interface with mechanical, firmware and manufacturing teams, and mentor junior engineers on advanced power conversion concepts.

Qualifications

• Five or more years in power electronics, with hands-on experience developing high-voltage converters, including isolated topologies, power factor correction and DC/DC stages.
• Strong understanding of AC/DC, DC/DC and DC/AC conversion, variable-frequency converter control, and modulation strategies for high- and low-voltage systems.
• Experience with Si, SiC or GaN devices, semiconductor selection, gate drive and protection design, loss modelling and thermal analysis.

Responsibilities

• Own converter development from specification and topology selection through modelling, schematic design, prototyping, validation and production.
• Select power semiconductors and design gate drive and protection circuits, analysing switching behaviour, losses and thermal performance.
• Develop modulation techniques, control strategies and state machines, alongside analog, digital and mixed-signal circuitry for sensing and microprocessor-based control.
• Specify magnetics and capacitors, and guide PCB layout to address parasitic inductance and capacitance, EMC, reliability and manufacturability.
• Conduct simulation, benchmarking, laboratory testing and debugging using appropriate engineering software and diagnostic equipment.
• Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, controls and manufacturing teams, providing technical guidance and mentoring.
