Job summary

Sealed Air Corporation in Simpsonville, SC is seeking a Senior Bags Extrusion Process Engineer to own polymer film extrusion processes and lead a team of Process Technicians, working with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Product Development.

You will drive process capability, yield, and OEE improvements using DOE, SPC, and data analytics, develop dashboards, and deploy capital projects while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Polymer, Plastics Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of extrusion or polymer manufacturing experience, preferably in blown, cast, and/or oriented film.

Responsibilities

• Lead extrusion process performance and diagnose complex issues across materials, rheology, temperature control, die systems, bubble/web stability, thickness profile, and downstream handling.
• Establish and sustain robust process control strategies (centerlines, control plans, SPC, inline vision, gauge control, standard work).
• Drive permanent solutions to recurring process and equipment issues via root cause analysis, DOE, and continuous improvement to reduce variation, scrap and downtime.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Process Technician team and ensure coverage for daily production, troubleshooting, trials, start-ups, and priorities.
• Develop collaboration between Technicians, Production, and Maintenance to improve troubleshooting capability and overall manufacturing performance.
• Lead Lean and Six Sigma initiatives focused on yield, rate, setup time, process stability, and OEE.
• Develop dashboards and process performance monitoring tools; analyze trends and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Utilize manufacturing data systems and expand MES capabilities to strengthen process control and decision-making.
• Support daily management systems and build structured problem-solving capability across operators, technicians, and cross-functional partners.
• Lead extrusion-related capital projects, including modifications and new installations, with vendor selection and commissioning.
