Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Policy Development professional to translate technical AI safety insights into policy ideas and governance proposals. You will work with policy, research, alignment, safety, and legal teams to shape how frontier AI legislation is developed and implemented.

You will help develop safety standards, review bills, and craft briefings. The role combines technical detail with policymaking, requiring strong communication and an ability to operate across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Fluent in frontier AI safety and technical AI governance concepts.
• Able to read legislative text and comment usefully on it.
• Expertise in loss-of-control, alignment, compute governance, and risk reporting.
• Able to translate technical topics for policymakers and leadership.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and able to own a project end to end.
• Excellent written communication for researchers and policymakers.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical safety best practices for frontier development with cross-teams.
• Represent Anthropic in standards initiatives and cross-lab discussions.
• Review and provide input on frontier AI safety bills and reporting.
• Support external affairs to strengthen legislative framework.
• Contribute research and policy proposals addressing AI R&D acceleration.
• Track global policy thinking and feed it into internal governance.
• Prepare memos and briefings to align leadership decisions.
