Anthropic is seeking a Policy Analyst to advance technical safety practices and governance for frontier AI. The role collaborates across policy, research, alignment, safety, and legal teams to translate technical insights into policy proposals.
You will review legislation, contribute to standards initiatives, and craft memos for leadership alignment. This hybrid NY-area position emphasizes rapid policy development and cross-disciplinary engagement.
Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

Our Policy Development team translates technical insights into workable new policy ideas for governing frontier AI. As a policy analyst, you will drive our work on technical and cross-lab safety practices, deepen our work on frontier AI legislation, and develop new technical governance ideas that you pressure-test with researchers and carry into policy proposals. You will work closely with policy colleagues and with research, alignment, safety, and legal teams, and you'll move easily between technical detail and how policy actually gets made.
