Job summary

Midnite seeks a Lead Platform Engineer to evolve the systems powering its sports betting and gaming platform. You will work across backend and platform systems, partnering with teams in Australia and globally to enhance service boundaries, reliability, deployment, and scalability.

This senior individual contributor role focuses on building core platform foundations, enabling teams to move faster while maintaining quality and resilience across multi-region expansions.

Qualifications

• Strong lead-level backend or platform engineering experience.
• Experience independently delivering complex technical projects.
• Strong backend capability in Python or a comparable modern language (Go, Rust, Java, Scala).
• Comfortable learning new languages and systems quickly.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and architecture trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and improve backend and platform systems that power Midnite’s core product.
• Work on complex platform problems across scalability, reliability, service isolation, and regional readiness.
• Contribute production code, reviews, and technical design as part of day-to-day delivery.
• Help identify failure points, reduce risk, and make the platform more resilient as usage grows.
