Job summary

Midnite is a next-generation sports betting and gaming platform seeking an Engineering Lead with deep backend experience and a systems-thinking mindset. You will code, design architecture, and set technical direction while guiding a small team.

Collaborate with Product and Design to translate complex problems into reliable, incremental releases. You’ll mentor engineers, drive quality through testing and observability, and help the team move fast without sacrificing stability.

Qualifications

• Significant backend engineering experience at senior or lead level.
• Strong Python skills or willingness to learn Python.
• Experience setting technical direction and delivering reliable systems.
• Proven ability to manage engineers, provide feedback, and support development.
• Solid AWS, CI/CD and observability fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Technical direction: lead system design across clients, APIs, services and data.
• Hands-on engineering: write production code and release features.
• Product delivery: translate opportunities into milestones and releases.
• People leadership: manage a team of three to six engineers.
• Coaching: mentor engineers through design discussions and reviews.
• Engineering quality: champion testing and safe releases.
• Technical judgement: assess trade-offs and mitigate risks.
• Wider contribution: contribute to hiring, onboarding, and practices.
