Job summary

ServiceNow is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer (IC5) to lead the design and delivery of shared, multi-tenant platform services — Postgres, queueing/streaming, and key-value stores — on Kubernetes. You will own availability, durability, and operating models across a global fleet and mentor engineers.

You will spend substantial time hands-on building core systems, defining architecture, and aligning with platform standards.

Qualifications

• 12+ years software development with a Bachelor's degree; or 8+ years with a Master's; or 5+ years with a PhD.
• 8+ years building production software, with distributed systems and Kubernetes at scale.
• Led design/delivery of shared multi-tenant infrastructure services (DB, queue/stream, or cache).
• Deep HA, DR, RPO/RTO, and durability targets; strong system design and scalability skills.
• Hands-on with at least one major cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong Go or equivalent systems-language skills; Kubernetes operators experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of shared platform services on Kubernetes for production use.
• Define HA, failover, disaster recovery, and multi-region architectures for services.
• Mentor engineers and drive reliability, scalability, and operability improvements.
• Collaborate with product teams on consumption contracts and tenancy models.
• Hands-on coding and review of core systems, operators, and CI/CD pipelines.
