Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer within the Consumer & Community Banking Platform Engineering team. You will be a core technical contributor responsible for scalable GraphQL solutions across multiple business units, with emphasis on Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD automation.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, ensure secure, observable platforms, and collaborate on AI-assisted development practices to improve quality and delivery speed.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Proven leadership experience in mentoring engineers and driving architectural decisions.
• Expert in containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes; scripting/automation in Python (or Bash, Groovy).
• Deep hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code for multi-environment infra.
• Strong expertise in GraphQL architecture, schema design, and RESTful API principles; API standards implementation.
• Expert-level proficiency with version control workflows (Git/Bitbucket) and distributed systems monitoring (Splunk, DataDog, Dynatrace, CloudWatch).
• Deep understanding of OAuth 2.0, secure auth patterns, and security best practices in platform engineering.
• Extensive experience with AWS cloud architecture and services, including HA and DR patterns.
• Exceptional documentation skills (ADR, runbooks, diagrams).
• Experience with approved AI-assisted software development tools and safe AI adoption.

Responsibilities

• Leads design, development, and evolution of a scalable GraphQL platform for multiple teams.
• Utilizes Docker and Kubernetes to manage large-scale workloads.
• Establishes observability, monitoring, and alerting standards across the platform.
• Leads automation strategies for CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Designs self-service developer experiences—APIs, tooling, docs, integration patterns.
• Contributes to open-source projects or technical communities.
• Script and automates using Python; uses Terraform for multi-environment infra.
• Architects GraphQL, RESTful API standards and schema design.
• Uses Git/Bitbucket workflows and cloud-based monitoring tools (Splunk, DataDog, Dynatrace, CloudWatch).
• Advances AI-assisted engineering practices with secure, verifiable outputs and reusable patterns.
