Job summary

Walmart Data Ventures in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including cloud-native architectures and AI/ML frameworks, supporting millions of users.

You will drive the full software development lifecycle, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate across functions to translate business needs into innovative technical solutions while ensuring reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, engineering, or related field with 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Alternatively, 7 years of software engineering experience.
• Experience with cloud-native platforms and AI/ML is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead platform engineering efforts to deliver scalable, reusable infrastructure and tooling aligned with strategic roadmaps.
• Architect and implement cloud-native, distributed systems ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and real-time data processing.
• Drive full software development lifecycle across multiple teams, including coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities into software products to enhance customer and associate experiences.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering teams, promoting best practices and innovation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and measure success through clear metrics.
• Maintain architectural documentation and ensure alignment with long-term platform goals.
